Future Planning Meetings - Including Kids

Future Planning Meetings

No one really teaches you how to be a parent for a child with special needs, you just do it. You take it day by day and try to provide the best life for your child. For some, this may include having certain learning and social goals for your child and signing them up for activities, tutoring and therapy that will help them achieve these goals. For others, having a long term plan for your child up until adulthood can provide some direction and peace of mind that you’re on the right track to giving your child the best care that they could have.

Including Kids offers Future Planning Meetings that are attended by all people who are important in the life of your child (i.e. family, friends, caregivers, service providers, etc.). During this meeting, we will discuss issues in your child’s life and lay out an individualized plan for achieving your longterm goals. Families will leave these 3-4 hour meeting with a plan for all areas of life including building social relationships, leisure skills, employment, financial stability, services, etc.

To identify problem areas or to track improvement, Including Kids also administers assessments upon request of the client such as Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills—Revised (ABLLS-R),  Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS),  Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP). These assessments are administered by Including Kids therapists familiar with the assessments.

More information about assessments and other services can be found by visiting our homepage or contacting us at info@includingkids.org or by giving us a call at 281-852-0501.
