Cost: Free! $20 refundable deposit for each registered group upon completion of the workshop

Parent Sessions: (10 am-12 pm) This workshop series is intended for parents, family members, teachers, professional workers or anyone who comes into contact with people diagnosed on the autism spectrum or with other related developmental disorders.  The workshops will cover the basics of applied behavior analysis and how to apply the strategies to real-life scenarios in the home, school and community settings.  Upcoming workshop topics and dates include:

Analyzing and Reinforcing Behavior- Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009

Using Token Systems to Increase Appropriate Behavior - Saturday,Oct. 31, 2009

Using Self-Monitoring Charts to Increase Independence and Accountability-
Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009

Children Sessions: (Check in for everyone is from 9:30-10:00)

  1. Interaction Group (10 am-12 pm): This session will be designed for children (ages 5 and up) diagnosed on the autism spectrum as well as 5-6 year old siblings.  Its purpose will be to work on social skill deficit areas such as turn-taking, perspective talking and conversation skills.
  2. “SibClub” (10 am-12 pm): This session will be set up for children ages 7-15 years old that have a sibling diagnosed on the autism spectrum.  Its purpose will be to create a safe place for siblings to share their experiences and receive guidance on how to handle situations involving their sibling in a positive manner.
  3. Childcare (9:30 am-12 pm): This service will be for children ages 2-4 years old both on and off the autism spectrum.
